Strategic Planning Forums Welcome Input from BMCC Community
Last spring we initiated a comprehensive strategic planning process to guide us through the next 3-5 years. In May, we held community forums to solicit input from faculty, staff and students to guide the plan. Based on that input as well as an analysis of BMCC, CUNY and national trends, the Strategic Planning Steering Committee has developed drafts of a revised mission statement and planning framework.
We hosted two community forums on Oct. 26 (faculty and staff) and Oct. 27 (for students) to collect your feedback. We again want your input on these drafts and invite you to join us at one of the community forums scheduled in Fiterman Hall, Rooms 1306 and 1307:
BMCC Strategic Planning Community Forums
Monday, November 2 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (faculty and staff)
Monday, November 2 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. (students)
Wednesday, November 4 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (faculty, staff and students)
Additionally, we have posted on the BMCC Strategic Planning website the Trends Analysis, Planning Framework and Forum Presentation. If you are unable to attend one of the forums but would like to provide feedback on these documents, send an email to academicaffairs@bmcc.cuny.edu
We value your perspectives and encourage your participation in the strategic planning process. |

Professor Yanagisawa: Solving the Mystery of Neutrinos
Since 1992, BMCC Professor of Science Chiaki Yanagisawa has been part of an international research team investigating neutrinos, sub-atomic particles rushing through space almost at the speed of light, and passing through matter, including our bodies, by the thousands of billions every second. Yanagisawa, who joined the BMCC faculty in 2008, brings insights from the neutrino research project to his physics and astronomy classes at the college, and recently he had big news to share with students: The neutrino research team leader, Professor Takaaki Kajita of the University of Tokyo, Japan, along with Professor Arthur McDonald of Queen's University, Canada, just received the 2015 Nobel Prize for Physics for proving that neutrinos oscillate, and change in identity — thus proving they have mass. |
