About Genesis Aquino
Genesis Aquino currently serves as the Executive Director at NYS Tenants & Neighbors (T&N) a non-profit organization dedicated to housing justice by organizing tenants and fighting for public policy and legislation to protect tenants’ rights for low & middle-income New Yorkers. Prior to joining T&N, she worked with Housing Court Answers, where she advocated to ensure access to legal representation for unrepresented tenants facing eviction in Housing Court.
Genesis has a long history of commitment to public service which also includes serving as Vice-Chair of her local Neighborhood Advisory Board and as Vice-Chair of the Housing committee Brooklyn Community Board 7, where she still serves. Her work has been focused on addressing the systems of oppression that most directly impact her experiences as a working class Black Latina migrant woman, and the intersections that impact the various communities she serves.
