In conjunction with our current exhibition, Double Portrait: Mimi Gross and Marcia Marcus, we are pleased be hosting a panel discussion at the Shirley Fiterman Art Center on June 6 at 6 p.m. Participants will include Mimi Gross, Kate Prendergast, Susan Bee, and Anne Monahan.
Susan Bee is an artist living in Brooklyn, NY. She has had eight solo shows at A.I.R. Gallery, NY and has published sixteen artist’s books. She has collaborated with poets including: Susan Howe, Charles Bernstein, Johanna Drucker, and Jerome Rothenberg. Bee is the coeditor M/E/A/N/I/N/G Online. She won a Guggenheim Fellowship in Fine Arts in 2014 and has taught at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Visual Arts, and Pratt Institute.
Mimi Gross is an artist, known for her paintings, large-scale constructions and installation works, experimental films, and costumes and set designs. Born in New York, she has been living and working in Tribeca since 1980. She has shown national and internationally and her work is in numerous public collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Art Institute of Chicago; the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC; and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
Anne Monahan
Kate Prendergast grew up in the art world and briefly studied Jewelry Design at FIT before starting a family and becoming a midwife. Since 2016 Kate has been devoted to telling the story of her mother Marcia Marcus through a documentary film while learning about and implementing the tasks associated with legacy work.
