Special Legal Counsel and Labor Designee
Meryl R. Kaynard serves as the Records Access Officer and Ethics Officer for BMCC. Prior to BMCC, Kaynard served as special counsel and general counsel for labor/ management at Queens College, CUNY Central and College of Staten Island. In that role, she implemented proactive policy initiatives and those in compliance with new statutory/ legal obligations; served as ethics and records officer, including all training and reporting obligations; managed extensive immigration practice; and supported collective bargaining negotiations. Kaynard has also served as special counsel with the National Council for Research on Women; as director of diversity and special counsel at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP; and as senior vice president and associate general counsel at JPMorgan Chase. Kaynard earned her bachelor of science degree from Cornell University and her J.D. from Wayne State University Law School. Kaynard’s bar admissions include: New York and Michigan; Federal Courts: U.S. Supreme Court, Second Circuit Court of Appeals, Southern District New York, Eastern District New York and Eastern District Michigan.
