Assistant Professor Friedrich Hoffman is a research scientist with expertise in the areas of surface science, including the absorption and reaction of molecules on single crystal metal surfaces, as well as nanotechnology, thin films and molecular probes.
His current projects focus on the synthesis and reactivity of nanostructured gold surfaces, and graphene; especially the laser-scribing of thin film graphene microstructures.
