For Senator • Voices of Change
Dear fellow students,
My name is Yiyang Sun. This is my third semester at BMCC and my major is Business Administration. I am interested in running for the position of Senator for the next Student Government Association (SGA) term (2021-2022).
Deciding to join this election of SGA is a chance and challenge for me and English is my second language. Before joining BMCC, I dared to talk because of lacking confidence. After the three-semester wonderful experience at BMCC, I changed myself from a worried freshman to a confident college student. Attending different workshops, Peer Program, NSLS, and CIVIC group let me get more courage to speak out about what I need and what I value.
Many people help me during the process. They guide, encourage, and support me to express my views. Now, before graduating from BMCC, I want to make my little contribution to listen to your needs, finding out better solutions, and overcome difficulties with you as a Senator in SGA.
First, I encourage every club to have enough funds to help students immerse themselves in different interesting areas. The funds will need to be declared clearly and in detail. Also, I will give my advice to every proposal. Second, respecting human rights and ethnic diversity is also important for students’ activities. Third, opening to all students and hearing different opinions to improve continually is the duty of SGA. Being a part of SGA is not only a great honor but a great responsibility.
