BMCC Community,
As a leading institution in New York City, Borough of Manhattan Community College continues to evolve in order to meet the needs of its students. Achieving this, involves making transitions to move forward with our efforts to enhance academic and programmatic services for our students.
In this spirit, I am happy to announce the promotion of Dr. Janice Zummo, to Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, effective April 19, 2021. Dean Zummo will be overseeing the implementation of the EAB Navigate system at BMCC. In addition, she will continue to develop and assess programs that are key to BMCC’s mission to strengthen the college readiness of incoming students, support the skills of enrolled students, facilitate their timely degree completion and prepare them for 21st-century careers.
Dean Zummo’s new role will enable her to expand her work managing programs at BMCC including the Learning Resource Center, the Writing Center, Immersion programs, Supplemental Instruction, Upward Bound, Project Impact and The Office of Instructional Testing. She also leads the Early Alert Program that enables faculty and staff to provide timely intervention when students are struggling academically; College Now, which creates a bridge between high schools and colleges; the Urban Male Leadership Academy (UMLA), part of the CUNY Black Male Initiative, and CUNY EDGE (Educate, Develop, Graduate and Empower), which provides support for students receiving public assistance.
Please join me in congratulating Dean Zummo on her promotion as we continue our momentum to a brighter future at BMCC.
Sincerely,
Anthony E. Munroe
President, Borough of Manhattan Community College
