Presenter: Elizabeth Robb (Academic Literacy and Linguistics)
Vocabulary Theatre (VT) is a teaching methodology developed by Dr. Robb in which students act out word meanings in short vignettes and display posters representing an image of the target words. The technique is based on a constructivist approach to learning with an emphasis on peer interaction and peer teaching which helps students take an active role in their word awareness and word consciousness. This study explores the effects of VT on the vocabulary development of students in Academic Critical Reading (ACR) classes at BMCC.
This event is organized by the Language, Society, and Culture FIG. Please contact Deniz Gokcora (Academic Literacy and Linguistics) or Kristina Varade (Modern Languages) for more information, or to RSVP.
