This introductory CSTEP meeting is open to all incoming BMCC Spring 2017 CSTEP researchers. If you are interested in joining the program please visit the CSTEP website or email the CSTEP Coordinator at cstepbmcc@gmail.com for more information.
CSTEP is a program funded by the New York State Education Department. Its mission is to increase the participation of students from under-represented groups in the fields of science, mathematics, and technology. Under-represented groups include individuals who describe themselves as being African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, or Alaskan Native. Individuals who do not fall under these classifications can still join the CSTEP program based on economic need. CSTEP promotes academic excellence, and so a minimum grade point average of 2.75 is required to enter the program. At BMCC, CSTEP involves doing a research project under the guidance of a faculty mentor, weekly workshops and seminars, and participation in the Annual Student Research Poster Presentation in March.
