The Africana Studies FIG invites you to join us for:
“Cape Coast Castle: A 2 Movement Musical Composition for Orchestra”
Presented by Associate Professor Joyce Moorman (Music and Art).
Cape Coast Castle in the 1700s was the headquarters for the Royal African Company, the British trade company that exported approximately 70,000 Africans a year at its height into slavery in the Americas. Africans were led through the “Door of No Return” never to see their homeland again. But now in the 21st century Ghana is welcoming the descendants of those exported back and the “Door of No Return has become the “Door of Return.”
Coordinators: Jill Richardson and Kelly Secovnie.
