Courses Taught
- This course studies the social world and how it has evolved over time, as well as how individuals are influenced and structured by social interactions in small groups and by larger social forces. The course covers major sociological theories and research methods, and key concepts such as culture, socialization, social class, race/ethnicity, gender, technology, social inequality, and social change.

SUMMER STIPENDS / RESEARCH GRANTS / FELLOWSHIPS
OER Course Conversion Grant – $2,500. Provided by York College’s Center for Teaching Learning and Educational Technologies (CTLET) for the Fall of 2020 to redesign an additional course syllabus assignment and create an OER resource on “contributions of Africa and its diaspora. 1619 – 2019: 400 years after the transatlantic slavery”.
CUNY Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program. Accepted into the program to develop a course on “Democracy and Civic Engagement in Nigeria / USA” in partnership with faculty of the Political Science Department at the Imo State University in Nigeria for the Fall of 2020.
CUNY Research Foundation, May 2018 – present. Service Learning workshops and training at Borough of Manhattan Community College: May 2018 – $300, May 2019 – $300, $500.
CUNY Service Learning Fellowship / Training, Spring / Summer 2019: $1,000. Developed a Service Learning Project over the summer with Community Board 1 Manhattan on Civic Engagement with the Waterfront, Parks and Cultural Committee for Intro to Politics (POL 110) Fall 2019 course.
CUNY Summer 2019 (OER / ZTC) Open Resources Pedagogy /Zero Text Book initiative grant: $3,000. Funding provided to edit an Open Education Resource (OER) textbook and developed a wordpress website course page for open pedagogy tailored to BMCC (Borough of Manhattan Community College) Social Department POL 110 course needs. “OpenStax American Government OER / ZTC Text for POL 110 (Intro to Politics) course at BMCC”.
CUNY Summer 2018 (OER / ZTC) Open Resources Pedagogy / Zero Text Book initiative grant: $2,000. Panelist on “OER, COIL, and Augmented Reality to Promote Critical Analysis and Social Justice Topics in a Community College Context” with other BMCC faculty during the 2020 CUE Conference and CUNY OER Showcase at Baruch College (CUNY) on March 20, 2020. (postponed due to CUNY Campus closures).
