BMCC Jazz Ensemble Auditions: Sign up Now

Join the BMCC Jazz Ensemble and meet other musically talented BMCC students.

The Jazz Ensemble works on a mix of standards and contemporary pieces. The group practices every week, and has public performances scheduled every year.

To Audition
Students should prepare two contrasting short songs to play. What is contrasting? One fast, one slow, one contemporary (new) song, one from a different era, different genres (jazz, latin, funk, etc). Students should also be able to play (or sing) a major scale and minor scale.

The BMCC Guitar Ensemble is directed by Quentin Angus, noted jazz guitarist and composer (www.quentinangus.com) The recipient of numerous awards, Professor Angus has performed and recorded with jazz luminaries Ari Hoenig, Kevin Hays, Jon Gordon, Shai Maestro, Colin Stranahan, Linda Oh, Rogerio Boccatto, Jo Lawry, Elliot Mason, and Will Vinson.
