The Business Management Department, in keeping with the mission of BMCC, focuses on excellence in teaching and learning to support the academic and career aspirations of our students in the field of business which is increasingly driven by forces of technology, globalization and sustainable development.
The Department of Business Management offers six associate degree programs. Four of these lead to an Associate in Science Degree (A.S.), and two of them to an Associate in Applied Science Degree (A.A.S.).
Associate in Science (A.S.) Degrees
The mission of the A.S. programs is to prepare students to pursue a Baccalaureate program by providing them with an introductory foundation of core business courses as well as an array of liberal arts studies. It is most suited to students whose primary goal is to transfer to a four-year college where typically students take liberal arts courses and core courses in their major in the first two years. Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degrees
The mission of the A.A.S. programs is more career-focused and provides students with a range of basic business courses and a few liberal arts courses. The two A.A.S programs we offer are:
The Business Management program is most suitable for those who would like to explore their interest in specific fields of business such as:
- General Management
- Marketing
- Finance and Banking
- Hotels, Travel and Tourism
- Risk Management and Insurance
The Small Business Entrepreneurship program, also an A.A.S program, prepares students who want to open their own business or work in their family business with an understanding of managing and growing an entrepreneurial venture.
Entrepreneurial Summit
The Department of Business Management organizes an annual entrepreneurial summit, providing students with an opportunity to meet and hear from entrepreneurs who have started their own businesses. The 13th Annual Entrepreneurial Summit was held at BMCC in May 2019.
