Violin
Khullip Jeung
Violinist, Khullip Jeung is known and sought around the world as a versatile soloist, chamber musician, and violin pedagogist. Professor Jeung started playing the violin at the age of 5 in South Korea and soon after immigrated to Hawaii. He had his solo debut with the Honolulu Symphony at the age of 9, playing the Khachaturian Concerto and soon after the Lalo Symphonie Espagnole to great acclaim. At the age of 15, Professor Jeung moved to New York, after being accepted to the Juilliard Pre-College to study with Dorothy DeLay on scholarship. He received the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at Juilliard studying with Sally Thomas with the C.V. Starr Scholarship, Teplitsky Memorial Scholarship, and the Irene Diamond Graduate Fellowship to name a few.

Viola
Aundrey Mitchell
Professor Aundrey Mitchell (Applied Studies, viola) received BM and MM degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music studies with Lucien Joel, completed post graduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music with Karen Ritscher, and earned her Doctor of Musical Arts from Rutgers University studying with Michael Tree.
Professor Mitchell has performed extensively throughout the United States and abroad as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player with performances at classic venues ranging from Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, National Gallery of Art, Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall, to the Mariinsky Theater and Tchaikovsky Hall in Russia. As a member of the Philadelphia Virtuosi she toured South America, Mexico, Serbia, and Russia.
Cello
Robert Reed
Dr. Robert Reed, Associate Professor of Music at BMCC, is a consummate cellist and teacher. He regularly appears as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral cellist throughout the US, Europe, and Japan. For over 15 years, Professor Reed has performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra, and he has also performed with many notable celebrities such as Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson, John Denver, Rod Stewart, Yes, Deep Purple, Mary J. Blige, Earth Wind and Fire, and Andrea Bocelli, to name just a few. His cello teachers include Lawrence Lesser, Stephen Kates, Colin Carr, Erling Blondal Bengtson, and distinguished pedagogue, Louis Potter, Jr. (author of the Art of Cello Playing).
Professor Reed holds performance degrees from New England Conservatory of Music and the University of Michigan. Prior to his appointment at BMCC/CUNY, Dr. Reed held teaching positions at Eastern Michigan University, Hillsdale College, Albion College, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and Interlochen Summer Music Camp. Professor Reed also serves on the executive board of the Violoncello Society of New York, and is a founding board member of Musica Trinitatis Concert Series of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in NYC.
Voice
John Uehlein
After a 20 year career as a professional chorister in New York City working with the New York Philharmonic, New York City Opera, The American Symphony Orchestra, Opera Orchestra of New York and others, Professor Uehlein has settled into a career as a teacher at BMCC as an Adjunct Lecturer as well as Director of Music at the Church of St. Francis Xavier where he has been leading and directing the music for the last 18 years. Professor Uehlein has a BM in composition and conducting from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and MA from Columbia University in composition and an MM from the Manhattan School of Music in vocal performance. He has sung many comprimario roles in regional opera and still sings and composes. He lives in midtown with his puppy and loves to garden and cook.
Jacqueline Horner-Kwiatek
Jacqueline Horner-Kwiatek is a former member of the acclaimed vocal quartet Anonymous 4 and currently is Artistic Director of ModernMedieval, a trio of women devoted to developing projects that combine early and new music. She was a featured soloist on the Grammy Award-winning album Calling All Dawns, and has been a guest soloist with many ensembles, including the Washington Bach Consort, Carmel Bach Festival, Parthenia, Ensemble Modern (Frankfurt), Ensemble InterContemporain (Paris), Locrian Contemporary Music Ensemble, Dogs of Desire, Ekmeles, Hesperion XXI and Distinguished Concerts International NY.
Professor Horner-Kwiatek has sung with English National Opera, The Royal Opera, Center for Contemporary Opera, and American Opera Projects, and has premiered roles in many operas both in the UK and the US, most recently The Overseer in Sweat at National Sawdust, and Gertrude Stein in Six. Twenty. Outrageous. for AOP at Symphony Space.

Oliver Henderson
Oliver Henderson, tenor, is critically acclaimed for his “perfect comic timing” and is accomplished not only as a comic singer/actor but also in romantic operatic leads. A native of Tennessee, he made his professional debut with in H.M.S. Pinafore with the Nashville Opera. Since this debut he has performed in a variety of roles and venues, notably the tenor role in Haydn’s Creation oratorio at Carnegie Hall.
Professor Henderson has performed extensively with Ohio Light Opera in Wooster, Ohio. Highlights of his work with the OLO include the role of Danilo in Franz Lehar’s Merry Widow, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, and the title role in the recording of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Grand Duke on Albany Records. His roles with the IU Opera include Dapertutto in Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Tybalt in Roméo et Juliette.
Eugenia Yau
Eugenia OiI Yan Yau is the chair of Music and Art Department, and professor of music at Borough of Manhattan Community College, the City University of New York. At BMCC, she teaches private voice and directs all Choral Program including the College Chorus, Select Chorus and Downtown Community Chorus which she founded in the Fall of 2006. Her choruses have been featured in both commercial and traditional classical performance venues, including the 2009 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, 2010 US Open with Gloria Estefan, 911 Memorial for Recovery Workers on May 30, 2012 and Masterwork Series Spring Concerts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center since 2008, performing well-known choral works ranging from Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes De Confessore, Schubert’s Mass in G, Faure’s Requiem, to Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and Vaughn Williams’ Five Mystical Songs.
Besides her teaching duties at BMCC, Professor Yau maintains an active schedule of presenting lecture-recitals on Chinese, German and American art songs at institutions including the University of Texas, University of Michigan, National University of Singapore, Hong Kong Baptist University and De La Salle Lipa University in the Philippines. She has also performed as soloist with the Hong Kong Baptist University Orchestra, Borough of Manhattan Community College Downtown Symphony Orchestra, Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, University of Texas Opera Theatre and Symphony Orchestra and Southwest Texas State University Chorale and Orchestra.

Percussion
Stephanie J. Lehman
Adjunct Lecturer Lehman has been a member of BMCC faculty since Fall 2009. With a Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Delaware and a Masters in Music Performance from Binghamton University, she is now teaching at BMCC. Professor Lehman has taught a variety of subjects, from private percussion to music history. When not here on campus she can be found performing as a freelance musician and private teacher.
Piano
Amber Yiu-Hsuan Liao
Assistant Professor and pianist Amber Yiu-Hsuan Liao has presented solo performances in venues such as Lincoln Center, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Temple Square in Utah, the Chicago Cultural Center and the National Concert Hall in Taiwan.
Professor Liao’s first solo album of works by Granados, Schumann and Beethoven was released by MSR Classics in 2010. MusicWeb International praised the album, describing Liao’s playing as “energetic and brisk… elegant and thoughtful.” Fanfare commented on her “very impressive and well-thought-out program,” and Audiophile Audition noted that Liao’s Granados “captures the folk element in the music very well, bringing color and dash to her performance.”
Professor Liao began her musical training in Taiwan and continued her studies in the U.S. with Boris Slutsky and Arkady Aronov. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the Manhattan School of Music and a Master of Music from the Peabody Institute. Amber Liao is the winner of the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, the Taiwan Classical Music Society Young Artist and the Lillian Fuchs Memorial Chamber Music Competition.

Guitar
Quentin Angus
Beginning his journey in Eden Valley, a small South Australian country town with a population of only 200, guitarist/composer Quentin Angus has been based in the world’s Mecca for jazz—New York City—since 2010.
Since his arrival he has received national and international recognition for both his guitar playing and composing. This includes an APRA Art Music Award for ‘Excellence in Jazz’ (2012), subsequent nominations in 2013 (‘Excellence in Jazz’) and 2014 (‘Work of the Year’), winning three ASCAP ‘Young Jazz Composer Awards’ (2012/2013/2015), five Downbeat Magazine Awards in the ‘Composition’ (2011/2012/2014) and ‘Soloist’ (2012/2014) categories, and being named the Channel 9 ‘Young Achiever of the Year’ (Arts Category/2013).
Described by critics as “Lord of the strings“– The Age (Michael Dwyer), “The Future of Jazz Composition”– Paul Williams (ASCAP), and “Exuberant, richly melodic and smartly arranged”– Richard Kamins (Culture Creature), Professor Angus has been leaving audiences in awe around the world with performances in Holland, Belgium, Romania, Switzerland, Turkey, New Zealand, Australia and the United States. Professor Angus holds a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy), awarded with a ‘Deans Commendation’, a Master of Music Degree (Jazz Performance) under the tutelage of jazz great John Abercrombie, awarded ‘Summa Cum Laude’. Angus’ has performed and recorded with jazz luminaries Ari Hoenig, Kevin Hays, Jon Gordon, Shai Maestro, Colin Stranahan, Linda Oh, Rogerio Boccatto, Jo Lawry, Elliot Mason, and Will Vinson. As part of his formal academic education, he has received instruction from Jason Moran, Nate Smith, John Riley, Todd Coolman, Hal Galper, Jonathan Kreisberg, Randy Johnston, Pat Martino, Adam Rodgers, and Carmen Lundy.

Oren S. Fader
Classical and electric guitarist Oren Fader has performed in Asia, Europe, and throughout the United States. Recent concerto performances include the Villa-Lobos Guitar Concerto with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and Rodrigo’s “Concierto de Aranjuez” with the New Jersey and the Omaha Symphonies.
Professor Fader has performed hundreds of concerts with a wide range of classical and new music groups, including the Met Chamber Ensemble (directed by James Levine), New York Philharmonic, Talea Ensemble, ICE, Mark Morris Dance Group, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
He has premiered over 200 solo and chamber works with guitar, and can be heard on over 45 commercial recordings and film.
Professor Fader received his undergraduate degree from SUNY Purchase and his Master of Music degree from Florida State University. His major teachers include David Starobin and Bruce Holzman. Since 1994 Professor Fader has been on the guitar and chamber music faculty of the Manhattan School of Music.

Trumpet
August Haas
Augie Haas currently lives in New York City where he is a professional trumpeter, composer, and teacher. As one of the most in-demand trumpet players in New York, Professor Haas has worked with artists including: Harry Connick, Jr., The Maria Schneider Orchestra, The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, The Gil Evans Project, Birdland Big Band, various Broadway shows, and The Radio City Orchestra. Augie is currently a regular member of the orchestra for Aladdin on Broadway.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Professor Haas earned his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of the Performing Arts. After Chicago, he attended The University of Miami’s Frost School of Music Conservatory for a Masters in Studio Music in Jazz, and a Doctorate in Musical Arts.
Professor Haas has released four albums under his co-founded label Playtime Music: The Llama, Doing it Augie Style, Baby Jazz, and his latest album Endless, featuring all original compositions. Most recently he published his first book entitled Build Your Range.
