Tuition Waivers Available to Students Who Qualify
We have some good news to share that may help students earn additional credits to maintain their degree progress. BMCC is offering two tuition waivers this summer that students may be eligible for, the Petrie Completion Waiver and the STEM Waiver. To be eligible, students must be degree-seeking at BMCC. Both waivers cover $210 per credit. Please note that only the tuition for the course(s) will be waived and students will be responsible for all fees and materials, such as textbooks.
Below are details on the tuition waivers and additional eligibility requirements.
Petrie Completion Waiver
Eligible students who have three (3) or fewer courses left to complete their associate degree requirements and enroll in courses that count toward completion of their listed BMCC degree will be able to receive one (1) tuition waiver for classes that begin on May 27 and/or one (1) tuition waiver for classes that begin on July 20.
STEM Waiver
To be eligible, a student must be a New York City resident and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident at the time the waiver is applied. They must enroll in a credit-bearing mathematics, science or computer science course that counts toward completion of their listed BMCC degree, to be able to receive a tuition waiver for the course that begins on May 27 only. These courses include:
- Any AST-designated course
- Any BIO-designated course
- Any CHE-designated course
- Any GLY-designated course
- Any PHY-designated course
- Any SCI-designated course
- Any MAT-designated course
- Any CSC-designated course

- ANI 260 (Introduction to 2D Animation)
- ANI 401 (Introduction to 3D Animations)
- ANI 402 (3D Animation Projects)
- Any CIS-designated course
- EMC 100 (Emergency Medical Care)
- EMC 303 (Emergency Medical Care/Paramedic Clinical Internship III
- HIT 210 (Professional Practice Experience I)
- LIN 101 (Introduction to Linguistics)
- MEA 201 (Professional Development and Career Planning in Media Arts and Technology)
- MEA 371 (Media Arts and Technology Internship)
- MMA 100 (Foundations of Digital Graphic Design)
- MMP 100 (Introduction to Multimedia)
- NUR 415 (Professional Issues in Contemporary Nursing Practice)
- PSY 100 (Introduction to Psychology)
- RTT 210 (Fundamentals of Clinical Medicine)
Summer sessions 6W1, 7W1, 10W and 12W begin on May 27. Summer session 5W2 begins on July 20. Please visit the Academic Calendar for more deadline information.
To qualify for a tuition waiver, students must register for the Summer 2021 course(s) no later than the priority deadline of May 1 for classes that begin on May 27 and June 15 for classes that begin on July 20. As funding is limited, waivers will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. If students are granted a summer tuition waiver, they will receive a notification to their BMCC email address during the week of May 17 for the first summer sessions and the week of July 5 for the second summer session. Please note, students must complete the summer course(s). If they drop the course(s) or fail to attend class, the waiver(s) may be revoked and they will be responsible for the tuition.
