Entrepreneur Saint Hung (Business Administration, ’05) is the Chief Executive Officer of Universal Processing, a financial technology startup he founded in 2009 andwhich has grown to serve more than 5,000 clients and generate $1.5 billion in managed revenue. While a student at BMCC, Mr. Hung was an Honors student and award-winning member of the Phi Theta Kappa All-USA academic team. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Economics at Columbia University, and remains a friend to BMCC by providing internships and participating in career fairs.
Q: What is your favorite memory (professor, class, etc.) of BMCC?
A: My fondest memories were the times I went on class trips as a Peer Mentor, a Student Ambassador, and as a Student Leader, where I had the opportunity to socialize with and learn from my other talented colleagues. I also remember stepping into Dean Marva Craig’s office when I first enrolled at BMCC, to meet the Dean and ask what can I do for my school. As a result of her direction, I became a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, a participant and leader of multiple clubs, a student ambassador, a disciplinary committee member, and towards the end of my education with BMCC, a national award winner in the All-USA Phi Theta Kappa academic team.
Q: How did BMCC help you get where you are today?
A: BMCC helped me to develop my work ethic, which I still apply each day in my business, and it afforded me the opportunity to lead other talented individuals through the multitude of leadership positions and extracurricular activities that were available.
Q: What advice do you have for today’s BMCC students?
A: I would tell every BMCC student that how you start and how you finish your education is not important; what matters is that you take the initiative tostart and finish your education.
Q: Why is it important for alumni to stay involved with BMCC?
A: It is important for alumni to stay involved with BMCC because it was our center for learning and for interaction. Revisiting these circles will help us to energize ourselves and keep our ideas fresh, so that we can make more meaningful contributions in our career paths.
