Ying-Yangs FantasiesAmy Oppenheim is the director of the Dennis Oppenheim Studio. She began as his assistant in 1977, and became his wife in 1998, continuing to work closely with him until his death in 2011. Plumb continues to manage his archive and legacy. Known internationally for his Land Art and Conceptual Art practices, Oppenheim was also an early avant-garde practitioner of film and video that played a significant role in his investigations of body and performance works.

Mindi Reich-Shapiro has worked in the field of early childhood education for more than thirty years and holds a master’s degree in early childhood education and a doctorate in developmental psychology. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Teacher Education Department at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC). Her research interests include the study of how young children learn about democratic participation and civic engagement in early childhood classrooms. She has developed a working model that can help early childhood teachers create a democratic classroom community that values diversity, equity and collaboration.

Zhiyuan Yang is based in Brooklyn and was born in Beijing, China. She attended Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Chongqing, China, and in 2017, received an M.F.A. in photography from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work explores the boundaries between alienation and belonging within family dynamics. Yang’s photographic work challenges and constructs alternative definitions of gender, ethnicity, performance, and intimacy through masquerade and humor.
