Amber Yiu-Hsuan Liao, Piano

Douglas Anderson
Douglas Anderson, a conductor, composer, producer, and educator has conducted
the BMCC Downtown Symphony since its inception in 1986. Active as a guest
conductor, he is also the Conductor and Executive Director of the American
Chamber Opera Company, Director of the Putnam Chorale, and was for fourteen
years the Chairman of the Department of Music and Art at the Borough of
Manhattan Community College.

Amber Yiu-Hsuan Liao
Pianist Amber Yiu-Hsuan Liao has appeared as a soloist at Lincoln Center, Weill
Recital Hall, the Chicago Cultural Center, Temple Square in Utah, and the National
Concert Hall in Taiwan. Her first solo album of works by Granados, Schumann and
Beethoven was released by MSR Classics in 2010. Beginning in Taiwan, Dr. Liao
continued her studies in the US with Boris Slutsky and Arkady Aronov.

BMCC Downtown Symphony
The BMCC Downtown Symphony is the college-community orchestra of the
Borough of Manhattan Community College. It is made up of students, faculty and
staff from the BMCC, as well as members of the downtown business and residential
communities. The orchestra reads and performs both standard literature as well as
unusual works of the past and present.
