BMCC Language Immersion for International Students (BLIIS)

What is BLIIS?

Summer BLIIS (BMCC Language Immersion for International Students) is an academic ESL program. It is mainly for those who need intensive study in academic English before they embark on credit-bearing courses in college, although non-college bound students are definitely welcome to enroll.

Part of the course is specifically structured for BMCC international students who need to improve their scores on the CUNY assessment tests; those eligible will retake the CUNY tests at the end of the semester.

Students will improve their reading, writing, listening and oral communication skills in a serious academic setting. One hour a day is spent in the computer lab, working on assignments and doing research.

Who can attend?

• English Language Learners looking to improve their English in an intensive 4-week course.
• ELLs who are considering attending college in the US in the future.
• BMCC students who have already been accepted to study for a degree at BMCC.
