The most important, and most frequently overlooked element of trauma informed pedagogy in higher education, is faculty self-care. BMCC’s Culture of Care requires us to care for ourselves. We must take care of ourselves before we can help others. We are working in unprecedented times. From home, we are teaching, holding office hours, conducting research, engaging in service to the college, supporting children who are engaged in distance learning, and trying to maintain a work/life balance.
