December 3, 2020 at 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
| Zoom

The tour, open to the BMCC student community, covers the different Israeli policies designed to displace Palestinians from Jerusalem, including the revocation of legal status, land confiscation, home demolition, the suffocation of the Palestinian economy, intentional underdevelopment and more. It also provides comments on the existing international aid systems, and how their nature and structure do not actually aid the Palestinian people. We finish with examples of inspiring grassroots initiatives in Palestinian communities in Jerusalem that are creatively resisting displacement and disempowerment.

Fayrouz Sharqawi is the Global Mobilization coordinator at Grassroots Al-Quds, a platform for Palestinian community mobilization and networking in Occupied Jerusalem. They believe that the challenges and responses of Palestinian communities must be articulated and led by them. They research, map, mobilize and network in order to contribute to the creation and implementation of Palestinian long-term strategies for Jerusalem.
