Motivational speaker, author and founder of “The College Success Program,” Arel Moodie will appear at Borough of Manhattan Community College Gymnasium on Wednesday January 27 at 10:00 a.m. The event, hosted by BMCC’s Peer Mentoring Program, is open to all students, faculty, staff and alumni.
Essence Magazine has called the Brooklyn native “America’s top young speaker.”
A high-energy motivator, Moodie makes it a point to get students up on their feet and engaged in the discussion.
“We’ll talk about how to be successful in school, gain confidence and focus, set goals and build a rock solid foundation for their futures,” said Moodie of his upcoming BMCC appearance.
Author of the book “Your Starting Point for Student Success,” Moodie grew up on welfare in the projects of Brooklyn. He saw college as a way out of poverty. While in college, he started an Internet business that helped students find off-campus housing, roommates and sublets.
As a professional speaker, he has spoken to more than 200,000 students in 16 states and five countries, while still in his 20’s.
