The BMCC Teacher Education Department presents the 6th Annual Teacher Education Day – A Virtual Exploration of Career Opportunities in Education.

  • Discover our programs in Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, Bilingual, School Health, and Music and Art.
  • Meet teachers, educational leaders, advocates and activists in education.
  • Discover NYC Men Teach and the Urban Male Leadership Academy.
  • Explore alternative and international career opportunities in education.
  • Learn how you can advocate for social justice and equity in education.

Round Table Sessions

  • Gender Equity in Education, featuring Cris Mayo, an internationally renowned scholar and current editor-in-chief of the Oxford Encyclopedia on Gender and Sexuality in Education
  • Achieving Equity – Black Men in Education, including presenters Reuben Quansah, NYC Men Teach and Ashtian Holmes, Urban Male Leadership Academy
  • International Career Opportunities in Education, which features educators and educational leaders from Tanganyika, UAE, Egypt, and Singapore
  • Career Opportunities in Education, which provides a look at alternative career paths including paraprofessional and museum educator
  • Advocacy and Activism, which features presenters Kemala Karmen from NYC Opt Out and Danielle McKoy from NYC Alliance for School Integration and DesegregationIn addition, we will have round table discussions featuring teachers and educational leaders in early childhood, elementary, secondary, bilingual, special education, school health education, music and art education.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

The event is open to all students, not just those in Teacher Education. When students register, they will be asked to choose two Breakout Sessions they would like to attend. On the day of the event, they can change their minds and choose other sessions, but this will give us an initial idea of who will be in which breakout session.
