Description
Education is not known for its innovativeness. In the majority of situations, it’s clinging to outdated values despite the fact that these are becoming obsolete by social and technological changes. So, developing students in this ever-changing world is becoming a real challenge. How can we create a system where every learner gets a personal curriculum with tailored pedagogies and didactics and so creating a situation where every learner gets to the place were he or she belongs? Fontys University of Applied Sciences, School of ICT, has implemented the concept of a personal curriculum. In this implementation, named Open Innovation, students define their own learning goals, competence profile and assessment criteria in a community-based setting. Availability of openly available learning resources and tooling is a conditio sine qua non for this concept. In the webinar, the ideas on which this concept are based and the experiences are presented.

Part of a webinar series on open pedagogy in higher education, and part of Open Teaching Week.
