Reimagining BMCC
Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the safety guidelines for higher education issued by the New York State Department of Health and the City University of New York (CUNY), BMCC is committed to creating the best possible learning and working experience for students, faculty and staff.
PLEASE NOTE: Information on the Reimagining BMCC website is subject to change as we continue to monitor developments related to the COVID-19 pandemic, protocols and recommended guidance.
Wearing Masks on Campus
In his message on Friday, March 4, CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodriguez affirmed the university will be following the revised guidance issued by the CDC last week, lifting the temporary mask mandate that required all CUNY students, faculty, staff and visitors to wear masks inside University campuses, office buildings, classrooms and other non-enclosed spaces.
This policy change takes effect Monday, March 7. Anyone who would like to continue wearing masks in any setting is welcome to do so at any time. BMCC will continue to offer masks on campus for students, faculty and staff who need them.
Random Testing Program of ALL BMCC community members
To help contain the spread of COVID-19, CUNY is conducting regular testing of a random sampling of BMCC community members. If selected to participate you will receive an email from no-reply@cleared4work.com with detailed instructions. There is no appointment necessary for random testing, which is available at 19 CUNY sites.
The closest site to the BMCC Main Campus is located at Fiterman Hall (81 Barclay Street (Café External Entrance), NY, NY 10007). It’s hours of operation are Monday 9 a.m.–2 p.m., Tuesday 9 a.m.–2 p.m., Wednesday 2 p.m.–7 p.m., Thursday 2 p.m.–7 p.m., Friday Closed, Saturday 9 a.m.–2 p.m., and Sunday Closed.
Random test results should be available within 48 hours. If you receive a “positive” result, your access will be removed and you will be contacted by Health Services for guidance. If selected, being tested is not optional. If you do not submit a sample within 7 days, your access to campus will be removed. CUNY Testing Program FAQs are available.
CUNY Access Pass Available Through Cleared4 System
For all vaccinated CUNY students, faculty and staff, there is an electronic option to validate your vaccination status and facilitate your campus access—CUNY Access Pass. Look for the Cleared4 email from no-reply@cleared4work.com that has been sent to your college email address and follow the link included in the email to complete the registration necessary to obtain your CUNY Access Pass. Please check your spam folder if you do not receive an email from Cleared4. For additional information please visit CUNY Access – Cleared4 Guide for Vaccinated CUNY Students, Faculty and Staff or Cleared4 FAQs available in CUNY IT Help.
Uploading Vaccination Verification
All BMCC students, faculty and staff can upload their proof of vaccination through CUNYfirst. Check your approval status in CUNYfirst after 48 hours of submission. If your submission was not approved, please read the reason of rejection carefully and resubmit. Once approved, your BMCC photo ID will be synced with the verification so you can simply swipe your ID on the turnstile (as you did before) when you enter the BMCC campus. Note: Vaccinated BMCC students, faculty and staff can also upload their booster status on CUNYfirst.
Procedures
Students Can Borrow a Device
All BMCC students are eligible to borrow a Chromebok, iPad, and/or hotspot. Students may check out a device anytime the Library is open. If a student cannot enter the building, library staff will meet them at the front of the building – 24 hours notice is required. Supply is limited. Devices will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. All devices must be returned at the end of the semester. The Library is in S410 the 199 Chambers Street Building. For more information, contact the BMCC Library at: help@bmcc-cuny.libanswers.com or call 212-220-1451.
BMCC Visitor Access
Visitors coming to campus must first receive an invitation by a BMCC faculty/staff member through the “Visitor Portal” system, located on the BMCC Portal. The invitation email sent to the visitor, will include a link to the Cleared4 Access Pass. Once there, please follow the directions carefully and upload the proof of Vaccination (CDC Card or NYS Excelsior Plus Pass) or a Negative PCR COVID-19 Test (Rapid tests not accepted).
Non-compliance Safety Protocols Form
The Non-compliance Safety Protocols Form is designed to help BMCC with monitoring COVID-19 Safety Protocols on campus as part of the BMCC Re-Opening and Operations Plan.
