BMCC offers different ways to host virtual events now that the college is closed to in-person events. Virtual Events is a multi-department group to assist in getting your events set up and out to the public. These are some formats that are available.
REMINDER: For those that are interactive (like Zoom meetings and webinars) we STRONGLY suggest that you manage the event by having a registration or otherwise limiting access to the complete event link. This will help prevent random event disruptions (e.g. Zoombombing) and will help maintain a safe, collegial environment for your event.
- Zoom Meetings (limited to 300 people): A Zoom meeting can be setup for your event with the regular interface and attributes that zoom meetings have, including polling, breakout rooms and the ability for everyone to see and be seen by others. You can also have a registration setup for a Zoom meeting which will allow people to register and attend without having the link available to all.
- Zoom Webinars (limited to 1000 people): A Zoom webinar can be setup for your event with the more controlled interface that the webinar can offer. Panelists and hosts are the only viewable groups and are the ones who can speak by default.
- Livestream: A Livestream can be setup for your event (with the approval of the Media Center). These events allow for almost no interaction with viewers and are mainly for pre-recorded or live video presentations at the college-wide level.
As with all events, the earlier you submit your request, the better we can support you. Please do not wait until the last minute; just because it’s virtual doesn’t mean it’s easy.
Know what you need? Submit this online form. If you need more information, please click one of the types of events on the left to learn more.
Virtual Events at BMCC can also assist you with running a PowerPoint during your event, recording your event, stand alone recording and connecting you with Public Affairs if you would like to look into publicity for your event. When you fill out the form for your event, you will be asked about your different support needs. Please let us know if you have any questions: virtualevents@bmcc.cuny.edu.
