BMCC Community,
Our institution is continuing to monitor the developments related to the pandemic. In his message on Friday, March 4, CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodriguez affirmed the university will be following the revised guidance issued by the CDC last week, lifting the temporary mask mandate that required all CUNY students, faculty, staff and visitors to wear masks inside University campuses, office buildings, classrooms and other non-enclosed spaces.
This policy change takes effect Monday, March 7. Anyone who would like to continue wearing masks in any setting is welcome to do so at any time. BMCC will continue to offer masks on campus for students, faculty and staff who need them.
CUNY’s quarantine guidance will remain unchanged. A reminder that if you are fully vaccinated and have received a booster shot, or if you tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days, and you come into close contact with someone with COVID-19 you do not need to quarantine and can return to work or class. But you need to wear a mask for 10 days from the date of your last close contact and get tested at least 5 days after the close contact.
Vaccination and Boosters
Keep in mind, students enrolled in hybrid or fully in-person courses, must still upload proof of their booster within 30 days of the date they first become eligible to receive the booster. All full- and part-time faculty, non-teaching instructional staff and ECPs are still required to be fully vaccinated and their proof of vaccination must be uploaded into CUNYfirst by April 1.
BMCC students, faculty, staff and all New Yorkers can get FREE vaccinations, boosters and COVID-19 testing. The college is hosting the NYC Mobile Vaccination Van on the BMCC campus at Fiterman Hall, 245 Greenwich Street (at Park Place) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., March 7-9. You can find details HERE.
Testing and Random Testing
CUNY’s mandatory testing for anyone with medical exemptions or religious exceptions and the random testing program for vaccinated individuals will continue to operate without change. BMCC’s testing location in Fiterman Hall will continue to be available to the college community.
Our future is looking brighter. Let’s continue to be mindful of each other’s health and well-being as we move forward one day at a time. Continue to take care of yourselves and your loved ones.
Sincerely,
Anthony E. Munroe
President, Borough of Manhattan Community College
