BMCC Community,
Today begins a new semester at BMCC! It will be a semester of optimism – but more importantly – with opportunities!
After countless hours of detailed logistical planning and preparation by our dedicated staff, faculty, and administrators, the 2021-22 academic year at BMCC is underway.
We are committed to safely, effectively and meaningfully offering education to students across New York City and beyond. Our community has expended every effort devising academic endeavors and social activities to keep students thoughtfully engaged for the entire semester, and I am optimistic that we will succeed.
During my first year as your President, I have engaged with many of you in meetings and events through virtual platforms like Zoom. Now, I have the opportunity to see and meet all of you in-person and experience the energy and electricity of BMCC first-hand! Our faculty have the opportunity to share their expertise in a multitude of ways using technology to engage students in their coursework, and our staff have the opportunity to enhance the customer service for our students who are earning their degrees.
As we proceed, we need to focus on the basics: closely follow all health and safety guidelines, including requirements for mask wearing and physical distancing. Also, I encourage everyone to get vaccinated in order to combat COVID-19 and the variants that are surfacing. Our Reimagining BMCC website provides information that provides all students, faculty and staff with updates and details on protocols and procedures for the fall 2021 semester. Information on the website will be updated as we continue to monitor developments related to the pandemic.
I know it has not been easy, but I am proud of your resilience as students, faculty and staff; and I appreciate the care you have continued to show each other through it all.
With our entire BMCC community working together, we can and will continue to carry out our mission of advancing equity and the intellectual and personal growth of students.
Thank you for choosing to be a part of the BMCC Community. Show your Panther Pride and remember to stand strong, protect each other and our greater community.
I wish all of you a safe, healthy and successful academic year.
Sincerely,
Anthony E. Munroe
President, Borough of Manhattan Community College
