The Federal Work-Study Career Access Program (FWSCAP) works with BMCC students who are in Federal Work-Study so that they will be ready for future careers. The program consists of a series of career readiness workshops on professional development topics, coaching, and off-campus events. FWSCAP members are part of a cohort of students practicing career achievement and service that is aligned with their civic and professional goals.
- BMCC Ambassador for Safety & Health is a position open to all majors and serves as a resource to ensure that our community maintains safe social distancing, wears masks on campus, and provide information on resources for those with questions and needs.
- BMCC Campus Influencer is a position for students with expertise knowledge of various social media platforms such as: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, and TikTok. Influencers will create compelling content and engage/interact with our virtual community about campus life.
- BMCC Career Access Professionals are hired federal work-study students providing assistance to the departments/offices in BMCC. Professionals participate in paid weekly or biweekly 1-hr professional development workshops/trainings that will enhance the knowledge and skills being taught from the work they are currently doing.
Benefits
- Career readiness competencies in the areas of communication, time management, problem-solving, integrity, leadership, and confidence
- Participants can work up to 20-hours per week. FWSCAP members are paid $15.00 per hour.
Eligibility
The eligibility requirements to participate in the Federal Work-Study Career Access Program are the same as participating in the Federal Work-Study.
Students must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the program:
- Be working toward a degree at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC).
- Be enrolled in at least 6-credits or greater each fall and spring semester.
- Be awarded Federal Work-Study. If you are awarded Federal Work-Study, the award will be posted to your Financial Aid Award Summary page in CUNYfirst. To view this page, login to your Student Center in CUNYfirst, and click on “View Financial Aid.”
- All majors accepted.
