For Senator • Independent
“Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress…”-Kofi Anan. Nothing speaks of greater value to me or my view on education than this quote. It would serve as both an honor and privilege to be able to serve alongside the great leaders and minds of BMCC’s faculty and staff. My mission and aim is to provide the school’s percentage of African-American students with the understanding that they are not alone in their road to greatness. The road for a Black African American striving for success and relentless in their journey to succeed is one that is all but easy, but if given the chance to be a Senator within BMCC’s SGA, I know that I can keep the fire alive for many who may be feeling that firelight is dim.
I also aim to take a deeper look at the school’s virtual website criteria and general outline, hoping to allow for a smoother and more practical virtual experience, for both students and teachers. COVID provided me with the time to think about ways in which the criteria for Blackboard could run in a more coherent manner. I believe that the way in which many of our professors create the outline for the virtual classes is something that can take away from the learning experience in a large way. If voted in as a Senator, I would work with the school’s committees to change that, keeping the student experience in mind.
With my major being theatre, I am here to make sure that the arts programs at BMCC are provided with all of the things we need to keep us running right! With everyone coming back from COVID, things can seem scary, but alas, we need to focus on becoming a live and strong student body once more! And with me in office, you bet that this is something that will happen! To all reading this, thank you for your time and please vote for Jonathan Davis as one of your 15 senators in the SGA. Thank you and stay safe!
