MyatFor Senator • Voices of Change

My name is Myat and I am an international student in BMCC with a major in Business Administration. This is my fourth semester in BMCC and I am going to transfer to Baruch after the Fall semester.  I am the type of person who wants to help and look out for another. I am now doing peer mentoring and am an executive member in NSLS. I always want to contribute and help on campus to grow and improve better.

I was a mentee last semester and after I was done with Fall 2020, I just wanted to get involved and engaged in campus activities as much as possible. My mentor helped and inspired me for all of these. She is always motivating me that I can do it. While Covid 19 happened in Spring 2020, I was having a mental break down and anxiety because of the pandemic and lock down. I was going crazy and had no one to talk to. I have had all of the struggles in this time alone as I am an international student. I am joining the programs in BMCC to get to know students better, to learn and engage more.

I decided to have experience in leadership and my friend referred me to apply to the Senator position because I can think and help differently for others. I would be happy working as an active, responsible, responsive and lastly thoughtful Senator. I really love to share and consult with people to guide them through their break down, as a mental and physical support. So if we are spreading the positivity and inspirations through the campus, I think we can make a better environment in BMCC and have students who care for the academic as well as the campus environments.
