BMCC – MoneyWorks Ambassador Program

Who Is Eligible

  • Have a minimum BMCC GPA of 3.0.
  • Have completed at least 20 credits at BMCC by the end of spring 2022 semester.
  • Demonstrate financial Need (All applicants must file for FAFSA regardless of their status {those not able to file on line, will complete a paper FAFSA when selected for the scholarship}).
  • Must be plan to be enroll in fall 2022 and spring 2023 semesters.
  • Must be available during club hours (Wednesdays) 2:00p.m. -4:00p.m.
  • Students receiving any BMCC scholarship are ineligible to apply.
  • Students in programs such as ASAP and Out-In-Two are not eligible to apply
  • Applicants must be pursuing their first degree. Those who hold an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree are ineligible
  • Applicant must complete all remedial requirements by the time the scholarship is received.

Requirements

  • Applicants must submit their applications on-line via the BMCC Portal (see instructions in the information section below.)
  • Submit an essay about “Why you want to become a MoneyWorks Ambassador, and how you will use the information to benefit your community?” For assistance with the essay, reach out to BMCC’s Writing Center, at writingcenter@bmcc.cuny.edu , or refer to our Guide to Writing the Scholarship Essay/Personal Statement.
  • Upload a copy of your CCT or submit one letter of recommendation from a BMCC faculty or staff member. NO FAMILY MEMBER SHOULD WRITE A LETTER FOR YOU. You will be disqualify if your letter is written by a family member of friend. The letter of recommendation must be submitted on-line – No paper recommendations will be accepted.)

* If you have a CCT transcript, you do not need two recommendation letters.
All you have to do is to simply upload a copy of your CCT in the “Activities
section” of the application.

To request the recommendation, go to page 5 of the on-line application. Enter the recommender’s name and e-mail address in the space provided. As soon as you do, they will receive a link with instructions to write the recommendation on your behalf. It is your responsibility to check in with your recommender to make sure that they received the link.

  • Should you be awarded the scholarship, you must agree to participate in all MoneyWorks related events and functions.
  • Students must agree to register for at least 12 BMCC credits bearing courses for the duration of the award (Fall 2022 and Spring 2023)

Students Selected for the Scholarship:

• Must register for at least 12 BMCC credits bearing courses that will be counted towards your major
• complete all remediation by the end of the first semester the scholarship is received
• maintain at least 12 real credits, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
•  Attend all MoneyWorks Seminars in the fall 2022 and spring 2023 semesters.

How to apply:

To access the BMCC MoneyWorks Scholarship Application, please follow the steps below:

STEP 1:  Visit the BMCC Portal
STEP 2:  Login (Your login information is your student e-mail login)
STEP 3:   After you have logged in successfully, click on the “Scholarship Manager” icon.
STEP 4:   Look for BMCC MoneyWorks Application-Fall 2022 and click on “Start Application Now”  (Follow the instructions to complete the application).
STEP 5:    Check the box for MoneyWorks Ambassador on page 1 and complete the essay for MoneyWorks on page 4 to be considered for this scholarship
