New Study Abroad Courses

We encourage faculty across departments to consider leading a study abroad program. If you would like to develop a study abroad course, you may refer to the Curriculum Committee Procedures for proposing a new course. All courses must be approved by the governance process. To understand what is required of a study abroad course proposal, please see the application linked above.

Faculty Guidelines

The study abroad cycle generally entails:

  • October – February: student recruitment for study abroad program/s
  • February – March: student application review; faculty orientation
  • March – May: student orientation; flights and payments to vendors
  • August: faculty post-trip report and expense report

BMCC expects faculty to travel with the group to and from the country. Learn more about the CUNY Guidelines for risk management during study abroad. Faculty will receive support from departments across campus to ensure the safety of all study abroad participants.

If you have questions about the study abroad process, please contact Jessica Levin, Experiential Learning and Study Abroad Manager, at jlevin@bmcc.cuny.edu.

*Please note that faculty currently serving on the Study Abroad Advisory Committee may not submit an application to lead a program.
