Pride Center

The Pride Center seeks to foster a supportive environment for all students, faculty, and staff who identify as members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQIA+) community.  We offer events, programs and services focused on supporting and celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as educating the BMCC community on inclusion, allyship, and intersectionality.

Support

LGBTQ+ Therapy Group, Thursdays, 2-3 p.m. via Zoom
Take part in a safe and confidential therapy group for BMCC LGBTQ+ identified students where the goal is to connect and support each other.  The group is lead by Nestor Borrero-Bracero, Ph.D. and Amy Ojerholm, Ph.D. from the BMCC Counseling Center. Pride Month

Although Pride Month is celebrated nationally in June, BMCC celebrates Pride Month in October since many campus members are away for summer break in June. The Pride Month Committee plans a robust and diverse month-long celebration of Pride Month events which are posted on our web calendar.

SafeZone Training

SafeZone Training explores how to be better allies and create a safe and inclusive space for the Queer Community at BMCC and beyond. The training explores LGBTQIA+ identities, gender, sexuality, intersectionality while also examining prejudice, societal expectations, and privilege.

Rainbow Panthers

The Rainbow Panthers Club provides a safe and supportive environment for LGBTQIA+ students and their cisgender allies, promotes a positive and inclusive atmosphere, works to combat misconceptions and prejudgments, and raises awareness among students, faculty, and staff.

Lavender Graduation

Lavender Graduation ceremonies are celebrated on many college campus to honor the achievements and contributions all LGBTQIA+ and Queer student graduates.  BMCC celebrated its first Lavender Graduation in 2019 with support and partnership from Student Affairs, the Office of Student Activities, the Rainbow Panthers Student Club, and Student Government Association. 

CUNY LGBTQI Student Leadership Program

The CUNY LGBTQI Student Leadership Program brings together undergraduate students within the CUNY system for a year-long leadership training experience to cultivate the next generation of LGBTQI leaders. Activities include interactive training workshops focusing on leadership and personal development, civic and community engagement, and social networking opportunities with LGBTQI industry and community leaders.
