The Office of Sponsored Programs is committed to supporting faculty and students in their search for sponsors who will fund their projects in research, public service, and instruction.
There are a wide range of funding opportunities for BMCC’s faculty and staff within the federal government as well as through foundations and corporations.
Navigating funding announcements and identifying which represent the best match, can be challenging. While the Office of Sponsored Programs generally does not seek funding opportunities for individual faculty members, this section of the website provides comprehensive information on internal and external funding sources that will assist you in finding prospective funding sources
I. Self-Direct Search Engines
BMCC maintains two databases of grants, fellowships, and other funding information from public and private, domestic and international sources. The GrantForward database is more useful to Arts and Humanities and faculty and provides more information on philanthropy funding whereas PIVOT is better suited for the STEM disciplines and international grants.

Grants.gov: The main source to find and apply for federal government grants.
National Institutes of Health (NIH) Guide for Grants and Contracts: Searchable listing of NIH Funding Opportunities and Notices.
Foundation Center: An excellent source of information on private foundations, corporate grantmakers, grantmaking public charities, and community foundations.
III. Internal Funding
The Community College Collaborative Incentive Research Grants (C3IRG) Program supports the collaborative research efforts of faculty at CUNY Community Colleges. The goal of the C3IRG Program is to promote research productivity and to enhance, through multi-campus or multi-disciplinary collaborations, the prestige and prominence of the University. The program will fund one-year grants with awards up to a maximum of $15,000.
Travel Funds Program: The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research has limited funds that can be made available to assist with travel etc. for such specific occasions
PSC CUNY: the Professional Staff Congress-City University of New York (PSC-CUNY) Research Award Program was established as a major vehicle for the University’s encouragement and support of faculty research and leverage external funding. Preference is given to junior faculty in the allocation of funds.
The CUNY Junior Faculty Research Award in Science and Engineering Program aims to cultivate the excellence and ensure the promise of research-intensive, early career, science and engineering faculty at CUNY.
